Spring 08
20th February 2009
Mat and Moira came to stay, and gave us a hand with some fence posts and digging

We put a pipe in the drainage ditch to prevent erosion, and provide a bridge, and daffs are popping up everywhere!

We decided to use the caravan for propogating....until the mice found it and ate all the baby tomato plants!!!!

20th March

We have planted some potatos, garlic and onions, and some lettuce, spring onions, mizuna and mustard greens

and we have planted yet more trees! We have completed the lower levels of Ash coppice, planted some feature trees, including Silver Maple, Black walnut, Cherry plum, Elder, Rowan, Whitebeam. We planted Willow to make field divisions in what we call the Badger field - the large, sloping field in front of Higher Little Waters...We have divided the field into 3. We also replanted lots of Olearia hedges, because the all got eaten by rabbits, then frozen! It looks like a few of them survived, but they are not very frost hardy, and temperatures reached -9 on 6th January! We also started extending the Blackthorn tunnel...but the pics not very clear!

Our daffodils were very disappointing - lots of leaves, but few flowers....I wonder if the frosts had something to do with that too....?

We have leaves appearing everywhere, it's very exciting!

Simon has been digging a hole for a water meter to be put in...hopefully we will have access to mains water on site soon.

We also bought a trailer today...and hopefully we will be inheriting a net tunnel, some mesh, seed trays and other bits and pieces from Bosavern farm.

We have lots of spring flowers on site now...have made some gorse flower wine! We also planted a blackthorn hedge to denote the footpath....
